Merry Christmas to all. I'm very glad to be here. I hope you are all doing well. I had my surgery a few days ago on the twenty first. I'm doing very well, I believe. I'm not in terrible pain, at all. In fact, I seem to be healing rather quickly. I'm a little light-headed, queasy, and fatigued right now, but normally, I feel fine.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find my original papers, the ones that Nanette gave me so long ago. I told her and she replaced some of them, but not all, and I'm not sure exactly what I should eat... not that I particularly feel like eating. Worse, my notes from Pat are missing as well. You have to understand that I began this almost a year ago. Nothing exists in my house for that long without disappearing. Gremlins... we have gremlins.
I mean, I know that the original bariatric diet is all clear liquids, and that the second allows stuff you don't have to chew, yogurt, creamy soups, farina, etc. That's not the problem; I'm not up to eating any of that anyway. I'll need it eventually, of course, but not yet. The immediate problem is that I don't remember which vitamins she wanted me to take or which brand of protein drink she wanted me to sip. I'm so tired, I can't think, much less hunt for the missing papers.
I sent my husband to GNC to find me protein drinks without sugar. He came home with some, plus protein powder that I try to use, but doesn't like to dissolve. I sip some of that from time to time. I haven't consumed anything else, yet. I'm sorry. I need to go rest now. If someone could send me copies of those missing pages plus their notes, I'd be grateful. I really need them.
Thanks so much...
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Welcome to the message board.
Sounds to me that all you describe seem to be normal. Not being hungry being tired and little pain/discomfort.
As far as the vitamins, you should be taking two chewable Flintstones every day. In addition, vitamin B12 sublingual the ones that melts under your tongue. If I am not mistaken, that one is taken once a week. Call Pat about what you should be eating. I know when I first had surgery it was clear liquids for a while. That was over 3 years ago and they changed the diet some. As far as the protein drinks there is pro stat, which is what you got in the hospital, I believe. I uses Ultra Pure Protein it came in lots of flavors and that is the one I liked best with 35 grams of protein per can. Your not going to get in all that you need to of the protein unless you use maybe the pro stat or some other kind that has lots of protein in a little amount. So don't worry about that if you are drinking the can stuff. Just get in as much as you can now. It is very important and it is a big part of helping you heal. Also, don't for get to walk walk walk. Rest when you need to but walk to. It is important to do all those things to help with your healing.
Call Nanette and she will I am sure be more then happy to help you.
Good luck and glad to see you posting here.

seNote5F Thanks for the help, Regina. I had my staples out today and spoke to Nanette. She was also very helpful. I still have a few questions to pose to Pat, but in general, I'm doing fine. Thanks so much; I really appreciate your help and advice.
I lost about 15 pounds. I say "about" because the scale was so sensitive that it registered my breathing and kept changing, but the average was about 15 pounds. I don't know how that stands up to the statistics. Would that be considered a lot, a little, or average? One way or the other, that's what it was.
I just hope that my body doesn't do what it always did with diets, lose weight at first, then get used to the diet, readjust, then stop losing weight, then start gaining it, again. I know. I know. I'm being paranoid. I can't help it. I've dealt with failure for so many years that I automatically expect failure again.
I'm on, what I like to call, stage one and a half. I'm mostly still on clear liquids with an occasional foray into full liquids. Mostly, I just sip my protein drink, or decaf tea. I tend to nibble a little yogurt in the morning, clear broth in the evening, and that's about it. It's enough for me now. My husband bought me some apple sauce, but my little boys decimated it. It was quite amusing. They had an applesauce feast.
Well, that's about it. Thanks again for the help. My insides feel like they're tied down a bit more tightly than they did when I first came out of the hospital, but I'm doing well. Happy New Year to you and to all...
In Vino Veritas,
Jan
