Hi everyone,
If you have been in the Southampton office lately, you may have noticed that I have made a small vignette of supplements in the exam room to remind us all of what we should be taking. I am in need of a few empty bottles, and hope some of you can help.
I need:
An empty Flintstones Complete bottle and an empty bottle of Pro-Stat. (Does anyone actually EVER empty those!)
If you can bring them to your next visit, or to the Support Group meeting, I would really appreciate it.
I also found Caltrate 600D chewables at K-Mart last night. They taste fairly good. They are similar in texture to Tums, not Viactiv, though I see online that they have that type of chew, as well. So, everyone remember to switch over to Calcium CITRATE, as per Pat's research. (Thanks Pat!!!!)
Regards to one and all.....

Hi! I had this surgery on May 22nd and lost 100lbs, so far. This may sound wonderful now, but in the long-term; I don't believe this weight will last. I find old eating habits, slipping back on. I still have at least 50 to 85 pounds to go, before my weight is acceptable for my height. I work at two jobs that, I can't stop thinking of food all day long. One of my part-time jobs, a school cafeteria is so boring and slow. The greatest event of my day is break. I feel so useless at it. My other job in fast-food actually has help me lose at least 60 lbs. I guess, I lost so much because they make exercise, stand on my feet all day and not be so attracted to food all day by seeing it as a product rather then just food. Besides, I tried not to eat much their, due to the fact that, I could get very sick easily. My fast food job, that I wanted so much in the beginning is not as exciting now as it used to be. Well anyway, after work I have so much time on my hands my mindset towards eating has totally changed. Can anyone relate?

Hi,
I understand your fears about re-gaining weight, as old habits begin to creep back in. The BEST way to help avoid that is by attending support group meetings, seeing Dr. Allam for monthly/every other month visits, and (sometimes) possibly go back to see the psychologist who did your original psych clearance for a few sessions.
We all understand that this surgery is a tool that we use to help us lose weight, but it is not a magic bullet. We have to learn to change our relationship with food, and examine WHY we were obese in the first place. If we used food to comfort ourselves, that is what we would naturally turn to for comfort, once we CAN eat again. The best way to avoid that is to develop new coping skills to manage our stress. We want to make sure you develop new, good habits to replace old, bad habits.
Hope this helps. You can always call the office if you need help.

Hi;
I Can Totally Relate To What You Are Saying. I Had My Surgery On May 19, 2005. I Have Reached My Goal And Lost A Total Of 126 Pounds. I Am Thrilled, But I Have The Same Concerns. I Have Never Experienced Dumping In The Entire Time Since The Surgery. I Actually Wish That I Had Since It Would Make Me More Concerned About My Eating. I Am Not Going To Say I Eat A Huge Amount Of Junk Food, But I Do Find At Times That I Pick At It. I Think For Me That Is Perfectly Normal. I Don't Think I Could Live The Rest Of My Life Without Indulging A Little. I Am At A Point Now Where I Am Enjoying Myself And Still Maintaining My Weight Loss. I Am Very Conscious Of What I Eat And How Much Of It.
I, Too, Have Considered Returning To My Psychologist To Discuss This. I Have Worked Very Hard And I Don't Want To See Some Of My Old Habits Return.
Good Luck To Us Both!!!

I have to say its nice to know there are others that feel the way I do. I try to arrange my schedual for the suport group meetings but the ambulance takes up a lot of my time. I had my surgery March 22 2006 I have lost about 135lbs I am now about 182-184 bepending on how much water I am retaining (right ladies) LOL... but I to notice not the quanity but the quallity of my eating habbits is becoming a little laxed. I try to eat the protine first then the vegs but the one thing that is killing me is the carbs and starchs. I love crackers and goldfish( there has to be a drug in those goldfish I can't get enough)and soup or rice.I do mix in Chicken and Turkey and as for dumping I never have expierenced it so I still put the surgar in my coffee and whole milk which I figure I can use the protine and vitd any way. I have to make it to a meeting.But like I said its nice to know I am not the only one thinking of this h2wq
