I go in for my tummy tuck on October 30th. Any advice from you veterans?

Good Luck Jean,
Well Unlike Our Gastric Bypass Where We Were Supposed To Walk Walk Walk, Now You Have To Just Lay Around. I Do Suggest Getting Some Kind Of Lounger, That Really Seems To Make Things Much Easier. It Seemed Like A Much Longer Recovery Then The Gastric Bypass, But So So Worth It!! Again Good Luck And I Hope To See You At Novembers Meeting!!

I totally agree with Teri...and enjoy standing up straight now while you can, my friend. It will be a LONG time before you'll be able to do THAT again! But believe me....it is SO SO worth it! And try not to laugh or cough.....the first time you do you'll see why I warned you about it! 010111610.

Thanks for the heads up! From what I hear from people, it is definetely worth it, but I am more anxious over this than the bypass or the hernia operations.

Congratulations Jean, I am sure you will do just fine. Just remember to follow whatever Dr Allam tells you. Make sure you wear that girdle for as long as you are supposed to. I left mine on even longer then I was supposed to. I did it cause I felt better. I also remember Elaine leaving hers on longer so I did the same.
Good luck and I will be in touch with you.

Jean,
I have to agree with every single posting here! The tummy tuck was the BEST thing I did! (after losing all the weight, that is) You will not be standing up straight for a while, and laughing and coughing are......interesting.....but, in the end, all so very worth it.
I, too, was more apprehensive about the tummy tuck than the bypass. Personally, I thought the tummy tuck was an easier recovery. Maybe because there weren't food restrictions, and a million new dietary changes to try to remember. Either way, by a week after surgery, tylenol was sufficient for the pain during the day, and 1/2 of a vicodin got me through the night.
Just remember that this time it's about NOT walking around, resting, and wearing the garment. I actually felt so much more comfortable WITH it than WITHOUT it.
Any questions, you know where I am.....
GOOD LUCK!

Jean,
I Am So Happy For You. I Agree With Every Other Reply, Its The Best Thing I Have Done Next To The Bypass Of Course. It Does Take Longer To Recover, And Even Though You Want To Get Up And Move, Follow The Doctors Orders. The Garment Is So Important And Wear It As Long As You Want, The Longer The Better.........good Luck, My Prayers Are With You..........~elaine
