Hi, I'm brand new!!! New to HCBS and Bulletin Boards and all Internet communicating (except e-mail). Kind of a dinosaur. Anyway, I'm very excited about my decision to change!!! It's a dream I've always had - to be "normal"!!! I hope to get through pre-op requirements quickly and have surgery ASAP. I really don't want to be like this anymore!!! My husband is a little leary - of surgical risks and changes to come. Just told my Mom - wish she could do this too!!! No insurance or $$$$. My Son also needs help. Maybe he will after he sees me do it. Alot to do tomorrow making appts. and phone calls. More family to tell. Praise God for people who can help us!!!! Hope to meet new friends at group meeting this month. Sissy

Sissy welcome to our group. You are going to meet many new people and most of all we are all here to help you through it all. You have just joined a new family that will never ever let you down. We will always be there to support you before and after the surgery.
It is great that you are telling your family and I hope that they are as supportive to you as they can be. We are here also, whenever you need us.
Of course, you are nervous and it is normal to be.
It seems that you have made the first steps of changing your life by just making the appointment to meet with Dr Allam. Now as you said you need to make the appointments with the other Drs. You will see that once you start seeing the others that before you know it your surgery date will be here.
Make sure you read everything over and over again that Nanette gives you.
If you need us, we are here for all support we can give you. Make sure you attend our monthly meetings before and after the surgery. It is a BIG part of being successful.
I am 2 years 9 months out and I attend every meeting. It is what has helped me be so successful. I just had a tummy tuck in April of this year and I feel wonderful.
Remember one thing that Dr Allam gives us a tool to help us get started on the road to a New Healthy life. The rest is up to us to take that tool and Follow what we are told. Follow the plan that Pat the nutritionist tells you to do it is so very important. Follow up with your appointments with Dr Allam and all your blood work. It is how Dr Allam checks to make sure that everything is ok with us.
You have chosen the road to a new life but along the way you will hit a few bumps maybe. Don't worry just do whatever it is that you need to do to get past that bump. It will all work out in the end.
Also, since you said your husband is nervous try to bring him to our meetings. He can ask anyone of us about the surgery. He will see how happy we are that we had it.
Good luck Sissy and please keep us posted here on your journey to a NEW and Healthier Happier Life.

Welcome Sissy,
Congrads On Your Decision!! All The Work You Have To Do Before Surgery Is Worth The Outcome, You Will See. My Husband Too, Was Very Nervous About My Decision To Have The Surgery, But Now Over A Year Out, I Am Down 117 Lbs And He Can't Be Happier For Me!! I Am A Much Happier Person, I Do So Many Things Now I Never Even Thought About Doing (like Buying A Two Piece Bathing Suit, Lol). Thats Just One Example. Dr. Allam Is A Great Surgeon, Your In Very Good Hands. Like Regina Said The Meetings Are Very Important, Bring Your Husband If He Wants To Attend, I'm Sure It Will Ease His Mind. Again, Congrads On Your Decision, And Make Sure You Introduce Yourself At The June Meeting!!
