smileysmil Hi Bridget welcome to the losing side. As far as sleeping I was going to say to sleep in a recliner if you had one but it seems like you are doing that already. I know it took me time to be able to sleep in bed. I didn't have a recliner after my surgery so I slept on the sofa. I propped the pillows all around me that I was just about in a sitting up position. Maybe you can try that.

Just take your time and try not to rush things. Remember to walk as often as you can. The more you walk the better you will start to feel.

If you need anything we have our numbers listed here in Patient Corner. Feel free to call if you need help with anything.

Good luck.

Hi Bridget,
I Feel Fantastic Thanks For Asking!! My Back Is The Only Thing That Bothers Me. Oh Yeah, And This Sitting Around Doing Nothing Crap, Is Getting Old Too!!
As For Sleeping Post Op From The Gastric Bypass, I Slept Sitting Up For Over 2 Weeks , I Remember It Well, I Slept In My Living Room Chair For Over 2 Weeks!! It Was Nice To Finally Get Into A Bed. The Soreness On The Left Side Will End Soon Too, Just Be Patient, Everyday Gets Better. It's All So Worth It In The End. Just Walk As Much As You Can!! See Ya In April Bridget!!

Hi Bridget,

I also could not sleep in a recliner and my couch was too low and uncomfortable, therefore I would sit on my bed and hold a pillow tight on my stomach and lower myself onto my good side (the right) and then lay on my back with two pillow under my head to prop myself up a little. The pain in my left side stayed with me for a little while.

Congratulations on being on the loosing side.

It was a good 3 weeks before I could get a good nights sleep.. I am not a sleep on the back person but I learned to be since it was the only position I could

Thursday will be three weeks. As sad as it is I'm getting use to sleeping on the couch. I wish I wasn't as sore as I am, the left side is still a little tender and high...UM I hope it flatens out soon. Its still hard to bend over but I guess I shouldn't expect miraceles and just be thankful I have been able to come this far...walking lots. has anyone have any thoughts on when is good timing to go back to regular arobics? My husband keeps telling me take it slow..Don't rush but I feel like I am not doing enough.

Hi Bridget,
Everyone Is Different, I Think If You Feel Up To Arobics Start Out Slow And See How You Feel. I Remember That Left Side High Pain So Well, It Was Killer, Not Everyone Gets That Either. It Actually Hurt To Breath. But Fear Not, That Only Lasted 3 Weeks Or So Too. You Sound Like Your Doing Great. I'll See Ya Next Week.

Hey Terry,

Thanks I thought I was going to have call Dr Allams offic and go in earlier than my appt.
Hope your feeling better!!!I just feel like I should be doing more than walking and sitting aroud although I get tired quick, I think I should do something..But I guess I should let the process take control a little I have been seeing the numbers go down and of course everyone tells me I look good BUT I don't feel good. I can't wait to feel good.I hope everyone goes through this and I'm not some kind of a freak..
See ya on Tuesday

I had my surgery on April 7th of last year and was still feeling sore on the left side when I joined Curves and started exercising on May 12th. I waited until after I saw Dr. Allam to give me my clearance to start exercising again. Everyone is different and we all heal differently.

Terri - how are you doing? I started Curves again on Friday, March 31st only one lap around instead of the three I was doing. This was 6 weeks after the tummy tuck. I feel absolutely great and have started doing two laps around this week. Every day I keep feeling better and better.

Hi Christine,
I'm Doing Ok. I Do Have To Say, This Surgery Kicked My Ass More Then I Thought It Would Have!! I Wanna Be Out There So Bad Raking And Doing Flower Beds, But You Just Pysically Can't!! I'm Not Very Good At This Sitting Around, Not Doing Anything. Pain Wise All Is Good, I Just Feel Alot Of Pulling In My Belly Button (normal I'm Guessing Right?) By 4 In The Afternoon I've Had It. Thats When I Just Need To Put On The Sweats And Chill In A Lounge Chair. I Can Sleep A Couple Of Hours On Each Side, No Where Near Laying On My Stomach Yet!! But All In All I Think I'm Doing Fine, I'll Be Three Weeks Out On Thursday. But I Am Trying To Take It Easy A Much As Possible. I'll See You Tuesday, And Thanks For Asking.
