Hi everyone, my name is Jackie... I first thought about having the surgery in August of 2004... I met with a different doctor and although he is a very good doctor... I was not ready... I knew it the minute I left his office... I just felt like I needed to try one more time on my own... so I did ... I lost 41 pounds in 5 months on Jenny Craig... then I couldnt put one more drop of that stuff in my mouth... I knew I could just eat regular food now after having lost some weight and do it on my own... 5 months later I gained it all back plus 2.... I've been sitting around with this excess thinking it through for 15 months since then... a woman I know had the surgery... she looks great and lost over a 100 lbs since sept.... she brought in her old clothes for me... that was it... I looked in the mirror and for the first time an extremely overweight, unhealthy girl looked back at me... I called Nanette... and I'm on my way... people keep asking me "are you sure?" I dont have a doubt in my mind.... I look forward to getting my surgery date and having all of you there to help me adjust to this new way of life... thats right... its not a diet ... its a new way to live..... I welcome all of your thoughts and comments..... I'm glad this web site exists. :)
Hi Jackie;
Congratulations on your decision to go ahead with the surgery. It will change your life. It's the best thing I have ever done for myself. I had mine done on May 19, 2005 and as of my last visit with Dr. Allam I am down 119 lbs. It's amazing. My entire life has changed. You are on the road to a better, healthier life. If you want to talk about anything involving the surgery, please call me. My home number is 648-0239. I love telling people just how wonderful life is now.
Good luck...Kim

Hi Jackie,
Congrats on your decision, it is not an easy one, and you are better off that you waited to make it. Now you know truely in your heart that it is the right choice and you have tried the rest and can go through this with a clear mind.
I waited three years and then when I met Dr Allam, 30 days later I was on the losing side of the fence. It was right, and I knew it, so I did it.........it was a pivotal moment in my life, I choose to live, and now I do and in so much better health might I add. I had surgery on Oct 7th 2004, and have lost approx 140 lbs.
I wish for you a happy healthier life, I am here if you ever need anything, or have questions..........my prayers and thoughts are with you. Welcome to your new family.........

Good for you Jackie! You are in exactly the right frame of mind and with the right surgeon for this new life. One thing I have found is that you will LOVE coming to Dr. Allam's for your checkups. Not only will you no longer fear the scale, but the waiting room is filled with success stories. Every single visit I meet people who are open, supportive and very talkative about their journey. I actually look forward to my doctor appointments now and hope Dr Allam runs late so we can chat some more, lol. Unfortunately my work schedule does not allow me to attend the group support meetings but, if you can, please try to make it to group. Good luck to you and keep writing on this website....it is filled with love and support.
