Hello, My name is Bobbie/Barbara (long story). I started out as a chubby baby, grew up to be an overweight pre-teen and teenager and then an obese adult. Due to some issues (with my mother), I was convinced that I was fat, lazy, useless, and stupid. To ease the pain, I turned to food for comfort. The more unhappy I was, the more I ate, the more unhappy I became. Once I reached adulthood, I started one diet after another. Weight Watchers (every time they came out with a new program, I joined), Jenny Craig, Think Thin, Diet Center, pills, hypnosis, well you get the picture. I would start out great guns and of course eventually fall off the wagon, gain back all the weight I lost and then some. This was the pattern for most of my adult life. Inevitably as a result of my obesity, I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, high blood pressure and the knee surgery I needed could not be done. I knew something had to be done, but didn't know where to turn. Then a wonderful thing happened. I found Dr Allam through a co-worker and called for an appointment. After speaking to him at that initial visit I knew bypass surgery was my only hope for a long and healthy life. You all know Dr Allam so I won't go on singing his praises (he gets embarrassed when we do anyway), but I will say that I thank God each and every day for giving him the talent and compassion to do this for us. My surgery was March 20,2003, I exercise every day, have already had plastic surgery (thank you Dr Joe) on my upper arms (and plan to have a tummy tuck, and upper thighs done too), and am now looking forward to a partial knee replacement in October. Look out world, here I come. If anyone would like to talk, you can call me at 631-286-0317 or email me at craftybj@optonline.net. I also have aol & msn instant messenger.
