Hi Pat

I know that we need to be very careful about the amount of sugar that is in a product, what about the amount of sugar alcohol? According to what I have read the sugar alcohol absorbs slowly into our systems so we don't really need to be concerned. Is this correct?

Thanks for all the info you give us!

Jean

Hi Jean,
thanks for your question. Sugar alcohols are sweeteners. They do provide some calories but they are absorbed slowly and some parts are not absorbed at all. Caution on the use. Theye can cause gas, abdominal pain and diarrhea. They are safe for post ROUX-E-Y patients.
