GET THE SKINNY
JULY 2005

Welcome to July’s Newsletter:

Lets start off by thanking the 2 guests who attended our meeting last month. Firstly, we had Erin O'Driscoll, RN, MA Exercise Physiologist who gave us a few pointers on how to work out. Now that our bodies are taking other changes from the weight loss surgery we need to start to increase our workout. One of the things she recommended, for those with bad knees or who just can’t get around very well, is to try water exercising.
Our second guest was Gail Orenstein, Eating Disorder Specialist/Life Coach. Even though we have had the surgery some of us are still facing the problem that we are going back to eating the wrong things. It is very important to follow the program that Pat (nutritionist) has given to all of us. As time goes on after surgery we are trying things that we said we wouldn’t do again. It is not easy to stay away from certain foods when we are on the go all the time. Just try to make healthy choices. If you feel that you are having a hard time call Dr Allam, Pat or even Maria. Speak with a professional who can help you get on, and stay on, the right path. Call them - that’s what they are there for. Come to the meetings and discuss this with your fellow group members. They may be having, or have had, the same problems. Talking about it will help not just you but others too.

2nd Annual Picnic
I want to thank again our 3 benefactors for helping with our picnic this year.
Dr Allam, Dr DeBellis and Chris were the ones who made it possible for us to have the Park and the food catered at a low cost to us. I would also like to explain, for those who didn’t know, why the DJ wasn’t there as expected. He was in a car accident that day and was injured. I spoke with Trish and she said he was ok.
I hope that even though we didn’t have the music that you all had an enjoyable time. Thank you to all who helped me this year.
