Hi everybody;

I am just at the end of my 6 weeks since my bypass. At my 5 week checkup with Dr. Allam I was down 39 lbs. More than I ever would have imagined!!! I am feeling great.

I have been adding different foods in at this point and haven't had any problems except with shrimp cocktail. Gives me heartburn, but just for a short time. I am going to be traveling this weekend with my family and am concerned about eating. I plan to bring along my protein shakes, but I am unsure of what to do about food. It's a little earlier than I had planned to be traveling, but we are all looking forward to it. Can anyone give me ideas of what I should do. W will be spending a day in a children's water park and then traveling a bit with my sister and her family. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am also going to give Pat a call to see what she can suggest.

Does anyone know anything about the beef from Taco Bell. I have had no trouble with the low fat ground beef that I buy and was wondering if just the meat was an option.

Hi!! I, too, travelled shortly after my bypass. So, I will give you the best advise I can....

1. WATER bottles! Crystal light and 4C both have individual serving size packets of iced tea and lemonade. I found it wonderful to freeze a few bottles the night before, so I could sip them all day and they would stay cold.

2. Protein shakes. Especially the premade Atkins type shakes were great. Again, get them very cold, and pack them with your frozen water bottles to keep them that way.

3. Baby food in jars worked out well, too. I also took individual snack size cottage cheese cups. (Breakstone makes them.) Not the most appetizing, but handy!

4. "Does anyone know anything about the beef from Taco Bell".....yeah.....it made me sick as a dog! I think it might have been too spicy, and if you can't tolerate shrimp coctail, I would be careful! I think, if I remember correctly, that it is actually not beef! It's soy! (Like Boca Burgers!)

As always, Pat is the food guru, and probably the best one to give you advise. MY best advise?? Go...have fun!!!

Have a blast!
