Hi everybody,
I'm two weeks out today. I'm having a major problem with nausea. Did anyone else have this problem, and if you did, what did you do. I just can't seem to get passed it and I am constantly thirsty.
HELP!
Thanks,
Kim

Hey Kim
Are you throwing up or just feeling like it? I haven't had that but maybe you should put a call into the doc and see if its normal.
Hope you feel better.

Hey Kathy,
Nope, no throwing up...just very very nauseous. I did call Dr. A. I spoke to him on Wednesday. He said it should pass in about a day or so. I figured he was doing surgery all day on Thursday, so I waited until Friday to see if Nanette could squeeze me in to see him. Low and behold, he's in Nigeria. Who knew?!
Anyway, I called the covering doctor and after our discussion, my husband and I took a ride out to the hospital. Well, they admitted me on Friday with severe dehydration. They sure did have a tough time getting an iv in me too. Ugh! Anyway, I got out today, Sunday. Feeling a bit better - although very tired. Still on liquids. Have to go on Wednesday for a blood test to check out my electrolytes, potassium and kidney function - found out today that apparently, they came very close to shutting down. Fun fun fun!!!!
This too shall pass!!! There is a light at the end of the tunnel and it is waving lasagna mush at me - damn light.
The covering doctors were very nice - always in surgery - but very nice. They gave me anti-nausea shots while I was there and sent me home with a script for anti-nausea pills...so, I should be feeling back to my old self soon!!
Keep up the good work!!!!! How much are ya down now?

Awwwww Kim sorry to hear that you had to be admitted to the hospital. I am glad that you and your husband decided to go to the ER.
Now tell us were you drinking? OR did that make you feel nauseous too? It is very important to drink. As I am sure you know that now. Please keep us posted as to how you are doing.11zwinky

Hi Kim.
Awwww I feel bad for you. Thank god you called the Doctor. I knew Dr. A was going away and I feel bad that I didn't mention it to you now. Are you starting to feel any better? How are the pills working? Are you able to drink now? God I hope so. Have you been eating what's on the list?
Well if this makes you feel any better I have an infection in one of the surgical sites. Nice oozy stuff comin out for the last four days, ha. I'm down 27 pds today but I can't wait to get my blood work done because I feel very tired. I'm sure something is off. I started eating rice krispies and I'm not having a problem with that seems to be alot better then the cream of wheat. I just let them soak till they're soggy and its been ok so far. Seems like everyone is different with this operation. It effects people different ways. My nephew had it down five months ago and hasn't had one problem. Met him at a family party this weekend and he had a slice of pizza carvel ice cream cake and a few nachos. He's down 120 pds. I sat in amazement watching him eat it all. There is a light at the end of the tunnel! Have you gotten on the scale yet? Well keep in touch. I think about you all the time and wonder how you are. I hope you come to the next meeting. Talk to you soon.

Hey Regina,
Drinking made me nauseous too unfortunately. Now that I have the Compazine, it keeps me from feeling nauseous so I am able to drink more frequently, although it is still a bit of a struggle to get it all in. I'm finding success with SF ice pops.
I'll keep ya up to date. I'll be at the next meeting next week.

Hi Kathy,
Yep, I'm starting to feel better. I get pooped very easily, as I'm sure you well know. The pills are working, thankfully. I am able to drink more and I am having success with SF ice pops too. I am eating off the list, but I am back on the liquid list, so I have to make an appointment with Dr. Allam when he gets back to figure out where I am supposed to be and go from here.
No, it doesn't make me feel better that you have an infection! That's awful. I'm sorry you have to go through that. I would need anti-nausea pills just for that alone! Are you on antibiotics? I do remember people saying that you get very tired, but I can't remember if it was 3 weeks or 3 months. So helpful aren't I?! Boy, you're very brave trying rice krispies. Have you gotten sick at all on anything new you've tried?
That's encouraging about your nephew. That must've given you a lift!
I am down 30 pounds as of yesterday. It really wasn't coming off fast the first week, but after I became dehydrated it melted off - not a healthy way to go I will add.
I will definitely be at the next meeting. Did you go back to work yet? If you did, maybe that's why you're so tired. I just started back to work. I'm going in for a couple hours a day this week and then will go back full time next week.
Be well. Take care of that infection!!!

Hi All,
I'm Sorry To Hear You Guys Are Having Such A Hard Time. I Hope Things Get Better For You Soon!! No Worries They Will!! I Sometimes Think Dr. Allam Didn't Really Do The Surgery On Me, I Have Had None Of The Symptons You All Speak Of. I Did However Have The That Terrible Pain In My Stomach From My Muscles Being Sore, But Almost 6 Weeks To The Day All The Pain Disappeared!! (thank God)
I Am Eating Just About Everything And Anything, Chicken, Beef, Pizza
Just Not Much Of Anything. I Feel Great,i Have Alot Of Energy, But The Best Part Is That I Have Hit The 50 Lb Mark!!! 52 To Be Exact!! So After Almost 10 Weeks, I Can Say For Me, This Experience Has Been Incredible!! I Know Soon You Will All Be Feeling The Same Way. Stay Positive!! I Hope To See You All At The Meeting This Month!!

smileysmil Hi Kim, Kathy and Terrie
Glad to see that you are all posting here. R_CHAM118.
Kim I am so glad that you are feeling better with that medicine. As far as getting a lot down don't worry just get as much down as you can. You will see after a little while things will get better.
Now let me say WAY TO GO YOU LOSER DOWN 30LBS e_1_35.gif That is soooo great.
Cathy sorry to hear that you got a little infection. I'm sure that it will get better soon. Also let me say to you Congrats on your weight loss 27LBS is fantastic. TA_CLAP33.
Terrie Terrie Terrie you are doing just simply great. Way to go on your weight loss you Loser you. 52LBS sx .
Now for Kim and Cathy being tired is very normal after surgery. Everyone is different. You might be mire tired then someone else. It is just the way our bodies are handling it. Don't worry it does get better.
Just make sure you take all you vitamins including your B12. Very important to do that. Also please make sure you are eating some Tums and your viactiv for the calcium part. All of that along with the protein will help your body heal. Just because the out side seems to be healing doesn’t mean that you are fully healed on the inside yet. So please follow those instructions that Pat gave you all.
My suggestion to you is if you get tired during the day and you can take a little nap. It won't hurt you to do that. Make sure that you are walking also. That is a big part of recovery.
I wish you all the best of luck. I can't wait to see you 3 Losers. Along with the rest of the Losers and soon to be Losers at the next week at the meeting.
