Help!!! NExium!!!!

Hi guys!!!
I tried to get my prescription of Nexium, and when I went to go pick it up , they told me i needed pre-authorization from my DR. B/C the insurance companies don't like to pay for nexium b/c it is too expensive.
The pharmisist told me to try Prilosec OC ...thats what the insurance companies want us to take now. Is this true?
Can I take that? I am going away for 10 days and I dont think i can get authorization that fast.
What should I do??

Nexium has more of the medication you need in one pill Prilosec OTC is not the same dosage you would need to take two Prilosec to equal one Nexium it will end up costing you more money out of your pocket! You should have no problem getting authorization for the medication due to your medical history. But if you want you can do that if cost is not a problem for you. Hope this helps! Good luck!! Hi Angelina just a quick question. padrole Is that for the stomach acids? If so have you checked with Dr Allam to see if you still need to take it? xpwink I know I use to take Prevacid and he stopped me from taking it after 6months. Just wondering. :rolleyes:

Hi- I wasn't taking my otc Previcid right and Dr Allam said I could get ulcerations in my intestine just after the reattatcment due to all the acid being pushed through that part of the intestine. Angie check with Dr. Allam, I've only taken OTC meds since my surgery in June 04 and I seem to be doing fine. Have a great trip.

Thank you so much for the input! I really needed it!
I will definatly go back to the nexium... but I won't get it in time to go on my trip, so I will just take the prilosec OTC until i get back.
I did ask Dr. Allam 2 months ago if i still had to take it, and he said yes for now.... so I will take the OTC drug just til i get back. I am going to Florida Regina,... and i am sad to say that i will not be back for the meeting this month. ButI shall return for april..... and maybe if we are going to have a pharmacist there... you could ask him about the nexium too.
