Medhat E. Allam, M.D., F.A.C.S.
For those of you who were not able to make our meeting Dr Allam was away in Egypt. He will be at our next meeting in March. Please try to attend. Support is an important part to a successful weightloss after our surgery.

jdb Dr Joseph L. DeBellis M.D. P.C.
I would like to once again say Thank You to Dr DeBellis for making our February meeting a very informative one.
For those of you who don’t know, Dr DeBellis is a plastic surgeon. He is the person that some of us might go to see for all our extra skin that we have from our weight loss. He announced at the meeting that he has free consultations and is more then happy to meet with us at his office. Dr DeBellis’ office is located at 80 Sanford Place, Southampton. 631 – 287-1234. If you are at the point of your weight loss that you think you might want to see him give him a call. His office staff, like Dr Allam’s are very friendly and will help you.
Dr DeBellis will also be joining our message board and is willing to meet with us in our chat room on the message board. So watch for when he will be there.

cvp Patricia A. Vonatski, M.M.c., R.D.
Thank you Pat for always being at our meetings. As most of you know, Pat is our very own Nutritionist. We see her at the beginning of our journey. When you go to meet Pat for the first time she will explain to you all about the food that you will be able to have. And at what stages. I know that I myself have phoned Pat after my surgery to ask her many questions. Please remember that no question is dumb so if you need to call her about something concerning your diet after surgery please do.

pyd Psychologist/psychotherapist
Maria is our group psychologist who we see to get our psychology part of our approval for surgery. Maria is also kind enough to attend our group support meetings. She also has small group meetings for those who might be in need for a smaller group setting. If you are interested in this please call her at 329-3185 She will explain it to you. Thank you for attending our meetings.

nm Nanette is our Program Coordinator:
Thank You Nanette for running our monthly meeting while Dr Allam was away. You did a great job in handling it and making it run smoothly.
Nanette is the one you will see at the office when you first go to those of you who don’t know that. She will try her best to make this as easy as she can.
At our meeting this past month Nanette brought up the fact about keeping appointments and getting our blood work done. It is our responsibility to make sure that we do both those things. Dr Allam needs to see us to make sure that everything is going ok from the surgery. It is Very Important to get our blood work done. So please try your best to follow up on those things. If you are unable to keep an appointment please call to tell Nanette. Thanks.

SPECIAL GUEST FOR MARCH SUPPORT MEETING:
This month Nanette has organized a Pharmacist to attend our next meeting. At this time they will inform us on what pills can be crushed, chopped, broken up or even dissolved. Some of you may have passed this stage but we have plenty of new patients coming in all the time, they can’t always swallow pills. The pharmacist will let us know what we can do to take them. Thank you for taking the time to come to our meeting.

Support Meeting
Our next meeting will be on March 15th 2005 at the Hampton Bays Library. All new patients please be there at 6:00PM. All others our meeting starts at 6:30PM. Please make sure you try to get there on time. We only have the Library until 8:30Pm.

Message Board –
Please once again let me remind you of our great message board. You will find this place a great source of information from people who have had the surgery. You can ask many questions there and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. Please try to use this great board. We also have a chat room. Set up a date to meet in there with someone.

Banana Cream Dream

1 pkg. Vanilla sugar free instant pudding
2 cups 1% or skim milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
2 medium bananas
Fat Free non-dairy whipped topping

Mix pudding according to instructions with milk, adding protein powder as you mix. Slice bananas, add to pudding mixture. Place in Fridge to set (doesn't take too long!!)

Spoon pudding into parfait glasses, layering with whipped topping. Also can be put in a pie shell, or anything else you can think of! It's easy, quick and the best part is you're getting a good dose of protein, the potassium and vitamins from the bananas, and hardly any calories and SUGAR!!!

Enjoy!!
