I wanted to ask you if you could do something for me.......PRAY!

My brother in law, Dale Hoover, was in a very bad motorcycle accident yesterday. A woman pulled out in front of him, and to avoid hitting her, he braked, and flipped over his handlebars. (a few times, I hear)

He is in Intensive Care at Stony Brook Hospital with a pelvic fracture, (4 places) a wrist fracture, and internal bleeding. Thankfully, he was riding his Harley, and the police at the scene said had it been a smaller bike, the outcome would have been MUCH worse.

Due to the internal bleeding, he is not stable enough for major surgery, so they are placing stabilizing bars in the pelvis. He will be in a wheelchair for months.

To top it off, his leukemia (AML) seems to be creeping back as well. He is not able to withstand another round of chemo, as the last one destroyed his liver and nearly killed him. Therefore, he may need a stem-cell transplant, soon. He is an incredibly strong man with a great will to live, but I know that he and his wife and daughter could use all the prayer they can get right now.

Thanks so much. I'll keep you posted on his progress.

Thanks and love to you all...........

UPDATE!
My brother in law, Dale, is doing ok, but is in a great deal of pain.
He was finally able to have 2 procedures done the other day. The first was to insert a balloon into a leaking blood vessel in his pelvis, the second repaired the pelvis itself with a series of pins. He still needs to have the wrist done. He still has the external stabilizer bar in place. Unfortunately, the Drs messed up a bit, and canceled his much needed bone marrow biopsy in error! He was moved to a rehab site at North Shore hospital, closer to his oncologist, where they can keep a closer eye on the Leukemia.

Treatment for that CANNOT begin until the stabilizer bar on his pelvis is removed. (6 weeks) If it becomes necessary to treat the cancer sooner, for example, if they are unable to keep his "numbers up", then the bar would need to be removed first, and chances are he would never walk again. They are in a tough place, possibly being forced to chose his life over walking. (I would choose walking!)

His outlook is better. Today was the first time he said, "I'm going to be ok, but I think I am going to buy a truck!" lol

I ask that you continue to pray for him and his family. Specifically, that his blood count remains "up", so that he can heal and fight infection before the chemo/stem cell transplant, which is his only hope of beating the leukemia back again. His wife and daughter also need your prayers. This has been an incredibly tough year for all of them.

Thank you all so much for your concern and your prayers. We have an awesome group, don't we?

Glad to hear that Nanette It is so good to get good news lately. I will keep your brother-in-law in my prayers.

Now I have a request to all our group members. I don't know if you all know Bobbie a long time group member and also a great friend of mine. Well her husband has been ill for few months now {Cancer) and he has taken a turn for the worse. Bobbie and her husband can really use our prayers for them. Her husband was moved yesterday to Hospice facility and he is not doing well. He is a lot of pain and what they are trying to do now is just try to ease his pain and make him comfortable. Joe (Bobbie's husband) will probably not come back home. Please just pray that Bobbie holds up through this time. She can really use all of our prayers and us. Send her an e-mail through here or just post a note to let her know that we are here for her. Thank You Everyone. God Bless Bobbie and Nanette's brother in law and all and our families and us.
