What is the fact when it comes to birth control for Bypass Patients? I was under the impression that due to the compromised absorption bypass patients have that traditional BCP are not as effective. I have never seen anything on the internet discussing it so I am not so sure..

My OB feels it is safe, but I chose to use the patch until I know more information and I am not very happy with the patch either. Anyone have any info or input??

Thanks~ Christine

I have heard the exact same thing about the absorption of the hormones in the birth contol pills being compromised by the bypass. How far are you out? Have you considered depo shots or those once a month inserts? It seems to me that I feel like I have enough choices that I don't have to worry about taking a pill every day and I would in no way shape or form want to take a chance of an unwanted pregnancy, but that's just me. I hope this helps.

I was on depo years ago and suffered terrible infertility as a result. I also lost my first child so I am anti-depo. I use the patch currently but find I have PMS that rivals psychosis!!! lol So I was wondering what others have chosen. My OB thinks I would be fine with the pill...innerestin~ I find that alot of doctors are still ignorant about the afterlife of bypass.
