Hi guys - I'm home and feeling much better. The hysterectomy, tummy tuck & hernia repair went well. It is all still really sore but better every day. Can't wait to get my drains out on Wed. & take a good shower. Thanks for everyone's encouragement and prayers. Darla

Hi Darla, I am so sorry I didn't get to call you when you were in the hospital. Its not that I didn't want to but to be honest every time I went to pick the phone up to call you or any one that day my sisters kept calling. By the time I got off the phone with them, I completed forgot until it was late at night.
I have been on the phone with just about every family member of mine. We are planning a family reunion and it is this coming weekend. So, family is here from Florida, Georgia and well Nassau and here Suffolk. We have about 45 of us gathering next week at my sister’s house.

Anyway enough about that but I did want you to know you were in my thoughts and I wished I had your home number. I would have called you there. I am glad to hear that all went well for you and that you are home recuperating. I know what you mean about the drains I couldn't wait for them to come out either to take a shower. The best part is that they feel nothing like the one we had from the gastric. So don't worry these to me were a breeze to come out.

Keep us posted after your appointment and I sure hope you will be able to stop by the picnic.

I had my post-op visit and got my drains out today. All is going very well!! Doc says he's proud how my tummy came out - I am very pleased too. It's scary waiting a week to know if everything is ok under the bandages. But the worse is over now and I even had a shower! Feeling much better - Darla

Hi Darla,

So happy to hear your update. I have been thinking about you and your recovery and am glad to have the good news. I bet one of the highlights was that shower you finally took!!!! I know that for me anytime you are restricted from getting anything wet it is such a relief when you finally get the go-ahead!!!!

Good luck and keep us posted,

Jamie

I remember when I was able to take a shower after getting the bandages off. Are you wearing the girdle? I lived in that thing. I bought a girdle pantie to wear while the other one was washing and drying.

I hope that you will be able to make the picnic even if it is to stop by for a little bit. If you do bring a comfortable chair with you. I remember when two people had just had the tummy tuck and they came they brought their own chairs to sit in instead of the benches.

Hope to see you soon and keep us update.

Yesterday was a big day - I took all of the steristrips off in the shower. It took me almost 30 min. because I was so careful. Didn't really hurt though - just a little nerve wracking. The scar looks beautiful - no signs of infection and all closed very well. Also had my first trip out - to Mom's for dinner. It was nice to get out but I was pooped by 8:00. I'm able to do a little more each day but I am careful not to overdo. Hope I'll be strong enough to return to work in Sept. See you all soon - Darla
Oh - according to my scale I weigh 142lbs and my new BMI is in the normal range!!!! I've always wanted to be "normal" but I won't claim it until I see the #'s on Doc's scale.

Hi Darla,

Sounds like you are doing great!!! Just don't try to push it too much, it will take time, and the old "one day at a time" is clearly the way to go!!!!

Gald you are doing so well,

Jamie

Hi guys - saw my wonderful Gyn yesterday. She's impressed with how well I'm doing. She says I'm moving around better than someone that only had the hysterectomy. She also is impressed with the work Dr. Allam did on me - and yes I have the tummy of an 18 year old now thanks to him!!! Thank You sooooo much to both of them for taking such good care of me!!!! Darla

I'm hoping to come for a while. I'm getting a little bored with this house even though I have crafts & paperwork I could be doing. What time is the tug of war scheduled for? See you soon - Darla
