Just wanted you all to know that I have been looking into it. I haven't forgotten and I have been looking for the right place for us. I called up about getting a spot in two different parks that would be in the middle I feel for all. At this months meeting I will bring the information and the dates that the parks are available with me. I also have the registration form that needs to be filled out in order to reserve that date. Now here is the thing the two parks that I have found
Indian Island County Park Located in Riverhead.
The other is Sears Bellows In Hampton Bays. Now they both have covered and uncovered areas. This is just a thought for all and my take on it is that it would be best to go with a covered area. The reason I feel that this would be best is that if it rains we can still have our LOSERS PICNIC. All will of course make the decision. Now the other part of using either one of these parks is this. To use and reserve an area there is a fee.
For an uncovered park area the fee is $50.00. For a covered park area the fee is $150.00.
For those of you who come here and read the message board it will give you time to think about what you want to do. As far as me well I don't mind if we all chip in to pay. In order to hold a spot and the date this fee needs to paid first. Now I would like someone else to volunteer to collect the money and send it to the park with the date that we choose. I hope that there is someone else in our group that would like to do this. Now you have the information that I have collected so far. I am going to call the park the day of our meeting June 15 to see what dates are still available. I will bring that with me to the meeting. As soon as we pick a date the person who collected the money needs to go the very next day to reserve the date. They will not hold it without the payment. So just in case we are all in agreement bring some extra $$$ to the meeting so we can get this going. Thanks All.

See you all at the meeting.
The picture is not either park it is just a picture of a park somewhere.

Regina,

A much nicer park in Hampton Bays is Red Creek Park. It has a covered pavillion, ball fields, roller blade/skate park, tennis, swing sets for the youger set, etc. There are BBQ grills (charcoal) set up outside of the pavillion. It may be less expensive to "rent" if you are Southampton Town resident. (I am, Dr. Allam, etc....) I will call Town Hall on Monday to check it out.

Indian Island Park in Riverhead is also very nice, but be prepared to get DIRTY, and there is a fee for parking for each car. We have a picnic there every year with about 100 friends! There is also a playground, ballfield, and beach. I think swimming is no longer allowed due to pollutants in the Peconic River that empties in Peconic Bay at the park. It's also a drive from the picnic area to the beach.

Sears Bellows also has a fee per car, as it is part of the same park system. (Suffolk County Parks Department)Whoever books it may need to hold a "green key". It has a fresh water pond for swimming, etc.

Keep us posted. I'll get whatever info I can. See you soon...........

There is a park in the William Floyd, Shirly area i thought you may want to consider, and I heard you called but they erased the phone number so if you want to call me again, I will be able to help you out.

I was able to fit in a size 16 W today life is so good. I will keep you all posted and I will send updates through my aunt from time to time. But you all could rent a bus and come on down. :D
