Since it was the official kick off to summer, I was wondering how everyone did. Did you go to any barbecues? Was it hard to find things to eat or did you find it hard to be around the food? Were you more active now since you lost weight?
I went to two barbecues this weekend. I was asked to make a carrot cake for both. I also made rice pudding and pasta salad. There was so much food at both parties and I am proud to say that I just at chicken at both and didn't have any dessert. :D I have been trying real hard to lose the pounds that I have gained. I didn't want to blow it since I have been good for two weeks now. I have lost 6 pounds in that time and still have more to go.

I've been working in my yard and gardens every chance I get. It's one of my favorite things to do when the weather is nice. I really feel stronger and happier when I'm working hard.
Mom had a "work" party Monday. She's been having trouble with her sacro-iliac & can't bend over so she needed help with weeding and planting. Well the whole family came over early & went to work. Hubby roto tilled, we cleaned out the fish pond & weeded and planted. The work went quick with everyone helping and Mom made us a nice BBQ. Luckily I was too busy to eat too much and I had fun with my Nephew too. It was nice to have the focus off the food and to be busy helping my parents(Lord knows they have done a lot of helping me over the years). Hope everyone enjoyed the Holiday and God Bless all those that made our freedom possible!! Darla

Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a great weekend. The weather was in our favor and I took advantage of it!!! I cater on the side for a place in East Hampton, so I was in the kitchen preping for a few parties on Friday and Saturday, and I cooked for a dinner party on Sat. night.
I went fishing off of Montauk on Sunday morning, and went surfcasting off of the beach on Sunday evening.
I had some time to rest up on Monday, but still did a lot of things in the yard to keep busy.
Today, (Tuesday) my daughter sings at Lincoln Center with the East Hampton High School Chorus, so it's off to the city today. I can't wait to get back to abnormal again!!!!
Even though I was around food all weekend, I was good and didn't stray at all from normal daily routine. Hope everyone had a great weekend .
See Ya,
Jamie

I just went to one barbque. I ate before I went and then I had litteraly a tablespoon of potato salad. I sent the rest of the weekend doing yard work. Heavy duty yard work. I'd never have been able to do all I did last year. I remember dripping with sweat last year trying to just cut the front. Sunday I cut and weed wacked the front and back and sides! Yesterday I went fishing and pruned trees. I joked with my kids that I did more than the two of them put together and my daughter said, "That's cause you go to the gym all the time." LOL I'm sore today I have to tell you. The scale says I gained 3 pounds. I think it needs it's battery changed. LOL

Hey this weekend went by so fast !!!!!!!!!!! It was a kinda laid back weekend for us ........we did alot of yard work. That seemed to keep our mind off food . We opened our pool and cleaned up after a long winter.
I did go to a bbq but I was very much in control, did not miss much of the food, I ate a little potatoe salad..but I mashed it well, some chicken and chewed it and chewed it and chewed it till my jaw hurt. Anyway I did better than I had anticipated enjoyed the company and kept my mind on the children and off the food.......I avoided desert completely. PROUD OD MYSELF.
Jamie-----Guess what my daughter was suppose to play in the band at lincoln center today too.....but she went to a wedding in ElSalvador, I didnt want her to miss that once in a lifetime chance to see her Dad's country and relatives. Let me know how Lincoln Center goes.
