To get this up and going again.

I myself understand sometimes that it is not easy to get to the hospital to go and visit someone especially with the price of gas today. However, those of you who do live a lot closer can maybe try to do this.

Maybe I can see if a few of my friends ( hint hint ):p want to start doing this again. I am sure we can work out the sharing of the gas price between us.

I know that many patients when we were going to see them were happy to see another patient that had the surgery.

Maybe at Tuesdays meeting on the 20th we can see who is going in and start the angel program again. If we can’t get to the hospital then maybe we can give the person who had surgery a phone call. I have done that in the past as well. If you do deicide to take on either task please make sure you get the persons Last name. You can't call the office and ask them because of the laws they are not allowed to give out that information. You will need the person’s last name if you plan to call them. ;)

Now as an Angel your other responsibility would be to come here and give us an update on the person you have.

So,what do you say everyone how about it can we get this going again?

I haven't been around long enough to know about the whole Angel thing, but I'd be willing to call people and maybe visit the hospital once in a while. Gas is awfuly expensive. If it were closer I could go more.

Regina,

This sounds like a great idea. So many good things have sort of slipped away and need to be re-kindled again. You are doing a wonderful job of refreshining this website and make a great cheerleader to get the rest of us back in the game again.

Thanks for all you do,

Jamie

Wow, this was a great response. Thanks everyone.

Carrie I guess the first step in doing this will start with you. You would need to find out if the people that are having surgery would like to have an angel assigned to them. If they say yes then you will have to see who can get there to visit them or call them to check up on them.

Angel’s Duty
Try to visit the patient that you are assigned.
Follow-ups on them when they go home with a few phone calls.
Posts on the message board their update.

A patient’s permission is the only way we can do this.

I hope that we can get this going. I think that it is helpful to someone just out of surgery to have someone that has already had the surgery done to help them out and give them the support and let them know that there journey is only going to get better. :)
