Hi Regina I'm here !!! The weather is terrible out there !!! (SPRING ????) No way. How was your Mother's Day. I think I did ok, my family took me out to dinner and well I actually enjoyed myself and ate alot less than I would have before my band. I was proud of myself...so quess I did ok.

I know I've been enjoying Mother's Day and been really busy with church. It's a good busy though. The men in my family took us ladies out for brunch after church. I couldn't really eat much because my oldest daughter made me scrambled eggs with chedar cheese for breakfast. I took my meal home and we all had it for supper. LOL Portion sizes still never cease to amaze me. I love to eat with my family because they never ask me "Is that all you're gonna eat?" I wasn't going to order, but my brother told me to order something and I could bring it home for supper so that's what I did. It's getting easier.

I had a good Mothers Day also. I stayed home and did absolutely nothing. :D
We ordered out. They had Chinese and I had Italian. I can't eat Chinese food ever since my surgery.
Glad you both had a good one.

Hey all~ This is my first post (I know shame on me, but I am sort of private about my journey). I had RNY on valentines day 08 and started at 268. I am now hovering at 200. I have an appointment with dr allam this week so I am not sure of the true number. I dont weigh myself every day. I have been learning as I go and had a friend or two to help me with advise and what to do what not to do. What I have learned is that everyone is different and what works for one may not work for the other. I also find that there are days when I can handle certain food items (chicken) and there are days when I clearly cannot. Those are the days I stick to more pureed foods. I have also come accross an AMAZING high protein pancake recipe I wanted to share and I will post on that board. I know too many carbs will make me so sick so I was apprehensive to try the recipe but to my surprize they tasted great and didnt make me sick!!
I am not so great with posting so if anyone has any questions about my experience, I will be happy to chat!!
Take care~ Christine

Welcome Christine and thank you for sharing. Congratulations on your weight loss so far. It is so nice to see new people posting here and telling us about their journey. Don't worry about this being your first post. What’s more important is that you are here now and we hope that you stay and continue to post and ask us questions.
I can tell you this that I still have problems with food and I am just about 5 years out. Some days I can eat chicken and then there are days I can't. So see you are not alone when it comes to that. I know that there is one food that I just can't eat any more and won't even try again and that is Chinese food. Every time I have had it, I have either gotten sick or just felt sick for hours after eating it. So, I now stay away from it.
Please post that pancake recipe when you can. I am sure that lots of us will try them.
Have you ever been to any of our support meetings? If you haven't we have our Support meeting tomorrow May 20 at 6:30PM if you can make it. If you do please let me know so, I can meet you.
Again thanks for posting and I hope to see you posting here more.:D

Welcome to the board,
Hi, my name is Jamie and I had a lapband installed in June of 2007. Congrats on your weight loss so far. It is so nice to see you up and posting. There is no need to worry about posting, because you are doing a fine job and you will get the hang of it in no time at all. The people here are really easy to talk to and you may even get a little advice on any matter you think may help you. We have been trying to spark this message board and every new post we receive is another step in the right direction.
You will find that no matter which operation you have had they are very similar even though the procedures are different. I have trouble with chicken on some days, but can tolerate it on others. Please ask anything that pops into your mind, and I'm sure you will get a nice mix of answers.
I, like you chose to tell only a few essential people about my surgery, and was never a great fan of support groups, but this support group is one of the best parts of this whole experience, and I hope you will give it a try. You really wouldn't believe how supportive everyone is of each other and how much they have all been through, and will help you with anything that might come up as a concern to you. Heck, we even have a few laughs at these meetings.
I really hope to meet you at the meeting tomorrow, if you can make it. Please keep posting and congrats on the weight loss.
See you there,
Jamie

Thanks Connie - I appreciate it. Most days I am amazed at how much has come off so far, other days I realize how much more I have left. I never get discouraged but I think I always had reverse body image. I would see bad pictures of me soo heavy and say NOOO THATS NOT WHAT I REALLY LOOK LIKE! lol. So although 200 is almost 70 lbs than I have been in years, I cant wait to loose more. I have a general question and I am going to ask dr allam as well: How many of 'you' have experienced kidney stones related to the surgery. I am reading more and more about it. I have had 12 gall stones at one time and I know what that feels like and I want to avoid kidney stones at all costs!!!
Unfortunately meetings are so hard for me because I live in shoreham and work in east hampton, between work and the baby, I dont have room in the schedule on these days. I am trying though - this summer I may be able to switch some things and make it

I had gastric bypass done in Nov. 07 and have lost 75 pounds and counting. Yeah !!!!!!!!!!!
I got my period regularly for 3 cycles afterward and have not had it since. About 3 months. My Dr. said that with all the weight loss my body might need a jump start so she put me on medication twice to bring it on and still nothing.
Has this happened to anyone else ? If so what did it take to get it going again ?
Is it due to not enough protein ?

Christine:
Sorry to hear that you are not able to attend our meetings. It is very understandable why. At least you are coming here to get some support and to keep us posted on your journey. This is a great place to be when you can't make the meetings.
Will you be able to maybe attend our 3rd Annual Picnic this summer on August 10th. Please let me know. There is a thread with all the details of it here.
Hope you can make it.

kimsgino Congratulations to you on your weight loss. I myself can tell you that in the beginning after my surgery I had a little bit of a problem with that as well. I did go to my doctor and they put me on medications to regulate it. In the end, it turned out to be that I was pre menopausal and that is why it was skipping months with me.
I would say to continue to go to your doctor about this and maybe with further testing they can research into it more. I am not sure of your age but can it be possible that you are pre menopausal as well?
Keep us posted.

Thanks for answering me regina.
I guess it's always possible. I am approaching 39 which is early for that but you never know.

Jamie you're funny. You sound like you're a car that had a new carburater "installed". I consider myself having my "plumbing altered". Nice to hear so many people posting. Keep it up - Darla :D

Hi Darla,
With your new plumbing and my new carburator, is Dr. Allam a Master Plumber or a Master Mechanic???
At least we both passed the "Leak Test"!!!!
See ya tonight,
Jamie
