Heartburn

It's weird, but for the past two weeks I have stopped getting that "hungry" feeling and instead get heartburn when I am empty. I have spoken with Dr. Allam and am on medication and Tums helps, too, but did any of you go through this? How long did it last? Will my normal hungry/empty feeling return or is this how it's going to be from now on? Now, it's not that bad. It's a signal that I need to eat something, but if it's not time for a meal I just pop a Tums. I would rather have that empty feeling back though. Any advise or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
