So I have been watching the intake and trying to figure out the calories. Carbs are killing me I love them. I chatted with a friend who is about 1 or 2 yrs post op more than me and said when she hit 2 yrs it was the same craving carbs and putting about 20lbs back on.So now is the long haul..I made an appointment with Dr. Allam I have to say I am a little nervous, I hate to disappoint him he has opened so many new doors for me. I also have started to increase my exercise levels walks are longer and alot faster in pace. Its hard when you work sittin' on your hinny all day but I try to get away from my desk and use the stairs always. potein first and looking for the first sings of fullness..water I just can't get enough in so I remember what Pat siad about fluids and not to drink while eating. Its gonna be hard but I am determind to get these 15-20 lbs off. Til my next update stay strong all my LOSER friends

Hi Bridget,
You are doing everything right to get keep you heading in the right direction. First of all you saw that you had a problem, then you posted and asked for help, you came to the support group meeting (and by the way made a whole bunch of friends), and now you are keeping us posted on your progress. There are a lot of careing people in this group that will help keep you from slipping if you let them. You seem so determined to beat this thing that I have total faith in you. Making the appointment with Dr. Allam will help keep you focused and I am sure he will have some encouraging words for you to think about. Vinny has gone well beyond his bounds to help and support you also. Add all of these things together and you have quite an advantage , so you can do it!!!!
Maybe you can ask Pat for some suggestions on food items, and there are plenty of websites on line that can help. It might start with something like mashing up steamed cauliflower with a little chicken broth and seasonings and that may replace your yearning for mashed potatoes. (it's a texture thing). Little tricks like this can work if you find the right ones.
Keep posting and asking for help and I'm sure some of our other loosers will chime in and help too.
There are a lot of out here and we care.
Hope this was of some help,
Jamie

Bridget,
It sounds like you are on the right track. Before I had my surgery I was snacking on chips and chocolate bars and such. Since my surgery, I have replace all those bad snacking with fruits. I'm a lap band patient, so some of the fruits I can't really eat but just have the juice. I know that I have a long road ahead of me but I just keep positive thoughts and take it one day at a time. I feel great and i'm looking great :-)
I wish you the best and hope to see you at the next meeting
