Dr. Frank Twiggs and Mindfull Eating

You should not miss our next support group meeting on Feb. 19th. We will have special guest, Dr. Frank Twiggs who will discuss eating habit and ways to control it. If you are considering or had Bariatric surgery this topic is a must to help you learn how to develop new eating habits and fight the old ones. I know many of us struggle with "mindful eating". After our surgeries we are kind of "forced" to eat mindfully. For some of us who are further out of our surgeries, we notice some of those old bad habits creeping back. We will always have to eat and therefore being more mindful of what and how much we put into our bodies is a skill we must all try to perfect. Keeping a food diary certainly helps. Even for those who have not had the surgery yet, it is something you should try to do. I look forward to this month's support group and seeing you all there!

I'm been having some "food issues" for the last couple of months. I am almost a year out as of Feb 22, 2008! I have lost 150 pounds, but have gained 4 back (as of today). I know, you all must think, what is the big deal about 4 pounds? It feels like trying to climb Mt. Everest!

I, too, need some tips from the "veterans" of our group, on how to cope with eating, when the pouch will let you eat things you couldn't before.

I will NOT be missing this month's support group meeting, that's for sure!

Can't wait to see some old friends, and to meet some new ones!

Hi All,

I am sorry to say that I won't be able to make this months meeting, because I will be in Cancun. This is the first meeting I will have missed since pre-surgery. Could someone please obtain a copy of the handouts for me and possibly post a general paragraph or two about the discussion with Dr. Twiggs? I would be eternally greatful.

It's going to be tough, but I must search for that fat and alcohol free Pina Colada on that Mexican beach.
