Hey everyone,
I was just wondering if there are any questions or stories that someone would like to share with the forum. I know there are a lot of newbies and fresh out of surgery people that should have something to share. I know before my surgery I had a ton of questions and when I got answers from some of the "old pros" it really helped. There are a bunch of us alumni that would just love to help if we could. Just ask!!!!
Please don't hesitate to post something, this forum is here to help everyone, but if we don't use it no one will benefit from the experienced members that are just waiting to help those in need.
No question is too small or silly. I'm sure you will get a number of answers as well as different points of view, because everyone's journey is a littrle different.
Hope to hear from you,
Jamie

Hi Jaime ,
Thanks for that post , it kinda pushed me along to post my question ...so here goes ..I am out of surgery a week and a half short of two months and I am only down 40 pounds ....and this is with following the soft puree diet and walking at least every other day ( weather permitting )...I am just interested if this is a normal speed of weight loss for having the gastric bypass ....
Thanks for any info, Jen

Hi Jennifer first, I just wanted to let you know I fixed your signature for you. You left out a few things and that is why it wouldn't show up. Hope you don't mind.
As far as the weight loss goes you are doing great. You need to remember that everyone loses differently. There is no certain amount that one loses after this procedure. Some people lose faster then others.
Try not to concentrate on the number of pounds that you have lost they are going to come off. Keeping in mind that there will be weeks that you might not lose a pound but then weeks later you could lose a few.
So, keep up the good work and keep up the walking. You sound like you are on the right track so good luck on your journey to a road that is going to change your life for the better.

Hey Jamie,
I doing great. I have been only able to eat a 1/4 of a cup (8 oz cup) of food. i'm not complaining. But i noticed in the past few days that with certain foods, like chili, i can handle a half a cup. I dont over do it. I stop when i feel full. I have not have a fill since the 2nd of this month because of getting full with a 1/4 of a cup of food. I think i will request a fill because I do get hungry quicker but I dont snack. I just wait for when I usually eat breakfast, lunch or dinner.
I can't stress how great i feel. I have so much more energy than before and I'm very happy.
How are you doing??

Hi Jennifer. My name is Kim and I had my surgery on Nov. 12th. I have lost 40 pounds as well and have struggled with the same feelings that you have. Sometimes it seems it is coming off really slow and that everyone else has lost so much more than me. I have to keep reminding myself that we all lose at different speeds and I can't compare myself to others. People that have more to lose than me might lose faster etc.
If you want to chat more I would love to compare notes. Either here or you can email me at Ginosjoy@aol.com.
Keep up the good work
Kim

Jennifer, Aleeya, & Kim, & Everyone,
It sounds like everyone is doing great!!! Please don't become a slave to the scale. Everyone has their good days and their not so good days. Regina is correct in saying that everyone is different and will lose at different rates. The main thing is not to become discouraged and if you have had a setback, just pick yourself up and focus on why it happened and what you can do to correct it.
I know that with my lapband sometimes it doesn't seem to be working and I don't feel much restriction at all, and other days I feel it and it seems to be working fine. I have a 10 cc. band and I have 7 cc's, but I think I need another fill ( I think I gained a little this time). I see Dr. Allam tomorrow, so whatever he thinks is the right plan of action I'll go with. I trust his judgement and want to do what he thinks is best. The main thing is to try to keep a positive attitude and keep plugging towards your goal.
Carrie, how are you doing? We haven't heard from you in a while, and hope you are still doing as well as you were. Drop us a line if you get a chance and let us know how you are doing, OK?
TTFN,
Jamie
