View Full Version : My Date 1/10/08
I can't believe it's almost my date. I am full of emotions this week. What a big decision I had to make for myself. Never having surgery before has me a little nervous.
See you all at support group in February!

Lisa,
Good luck with your surgery. I was very nervous going into mine but I met some great people at the support group and the reassured me that everything will be fine. It was exactly how the described it. I got the lap band surgery done. Which one are you getting done, if you dont mind me asking?
when they rolled me into the operating room and moved me to the bed. i looked over to my right arm then my left and then back to my right and that was it. the next thing i know i opened my eyes and the nurse in the recovery waiting area told me i had finished my surgery.
Again, best of luck and i cant wait to meet you in support group next month.

Hi Lisa.
Welcome Aboard!!!
I want to wish you good luck with your operation on the 10th, don't worry you are in good hands with Dr. Allam and all of his staff, they are the best. Just make sure you do what they tell you to do and you will be just fine.
I am a lapbander 7 months out and doing fine. The two procedures are different, but many of the steps are the same, so I am sure you will do just fine.
I hope to meet you at the support group meeting and you can tell everyone your experience. The group meetings are so important because you listen to all of the stories and wisdom from everyone that has gone through it. They will answer any questions that will pop up and will go out of their way to help in any way they can. They are a great group.
Anyway, Good Luck on your new adventure I'm sure it will be a good one!!!

Good luck Lee on your surgery. As Jamie and others here have said repeatedly, you are safe with Dr. Allam. He performed my surgery in 2003 and I have been living a healthier better enjoyable life since that day.
This is and was the best decision that many of us have made. Some of us hit a few bumps in the road while waiting for approval and some after surgery but in the end no matter what happened if you were to ask the people who had it if it was worth it and would they do it again I guarantee you they will say You bet in a heart beat.
So just, go in they’re that day thinking that this is your new beginning on life.
Best of luck to you and if you need any questions at all post it here and we will try our best to help you out.
In addition, do as Jamie and the rest of us always say Follow what you were told and you will be just fine.
Best of luck.
Regina
Oh PS make sure you take two good before and after pictures. You will want them months after surgery trust me.
Thank you! I appreciate all your support.
Do I really want to look at before pictures?? I guess I should since I have avoided the camera for years. Maybe next Christmas the mystery Mom will appear in some photos.
I know I am in good hands but I am still nervous-

Lee,
Good Luck! You definitely want to take those photos as I did not and I regret it. Thanks to Regina, I do have a couple that she took to look back at.

I think you will want them more then you know right now.
When I look back at those pictures I can't believe that is me.
I never realized how big I was. Its funny we know that we are but for me I never saw it until I look at those pictures.
Take at least two good ones. One full front and one side view. Make sure they are a full body shot as well. Don't do half shots.
Then after you have surgery and in a month’s time take some new ones. You will start to see the difference. If you want to share them with us here as you lose your weight and you need help with adding them to the message board just let me know. I will help you.
As far as being nervous well that is normal. If you said you weren't I would be very surprised.
Again best of luck!
