I had my surgery on 11/12/07 and I just had a very strange experience. I ate some chicken noodle soup, mostly broth. But I did eat some chicken chewed up well and a couple of noodles. I started out w/ usual feeling of having a golf ball stuck in my throat and the need to burp over and over. This feeling continued to get worse and worse until the burps started bringing up liquid that I spit out. It was foam which I guess is where the term foamies is from. After that happened 4 or 5 times I all of a sudden threw up w/o any warning or time to react. That happened about 4 times and then I was fine. What was this ? Did I eat too much or did this mean the food did not agree w/ me. Is there any way of knowing the difference ?

thanks kim

Sounds to me that the food didn't agree with you. Maybe it was to soon to start having noodles and chicken. Noodles expand in your stomach and grow. The chicken is not some thing I would have eaten so soon after surgery. Sorry but try sticking to the plan that Pat gave you. It was written to guide us through the beginning time after surgery.

I am glad that you felt better after that but please be careful.

I've been 9 months out & I still can't do noodles. Go figure! A little chicken now & then I can now keep down, but no noodles. I would just stick w/the broth & very over-cooked veggies in it for texture. Cauliflower does well w/me.

Cheers!
