Hi folks,
Well, this past Monday, I decided to take my girls to Southaven Park for row boating, picnic, water fowl feeding and walk through the park. I use to go there often in high school w/my girlfriends & we'd (ok, I would) just row for hours. Well, I got the girls situated in the boat & off we went. I took to it like a duck to water! Pun intended. I forgot just how much fun it really was (calluses & all).
We decided to go picnic by the ducks when my 4 yr old has a "I HAVE TO GO PEE-PEE NOW!" panic attack. Naturally, we're too far from the restrooms. With no-one else there, I tell her it's ok to tinkle near the bushes (baby wipes are in tow). She starts walking into the thicket & I start to panic thinking of thorns, broken glass, ticks, etc....Plus for the fact she's my daughter & has no shame, so why is she walking into this thick brush?! As I start raising my voice, she bends down & comes out w/a HUGE box turtle!!!
Now, what are the chances that you go to tinkle by the edge of a bush & come out w/a box turtle?!!! Too cute! She finally went & the girls played with the turtle for a bit before we let it go on its way again.
Yesterday we went to the 4th of July parade in Southampton & Matt was marching in the parade w/the fire department. The girls were so excited to see their daddy there! I can't tell you how great it felt to be approached by so many people that I knew complimenting me on my weight loss! I felt like a million bucks! One woman I know came up to me three times in a row asking me all these questions & praising my losses.
Well, being that the weather looks like it's going to hold up today, I'm going to take the girls to the petting zoo. Also, we're going back, weekly to go row boating & picnic in the park.
Hope everyone had a happy July 4th week as well.
Upcoming family events are: Sesame Place for 2 days and another day at Ringing Rocks Nat'l Park, 3 days in Ct. for A Day w/Thomas the Tank & a day at Mystic Seaport, camping for 4 days upstate & visiting Howe Caverns & 2 days in Tuxedo Park, NY for the NY Ren Faire (an absolute must!). Whew!
Cheers!
